What to Do in a Dental Emergency
Call our office immediately if you are experiencing a dental emergency. The sooner you reach out, the sooner we can provide relief. Below are a few guidelines to help you:
- Toothache – Rinse your mouth with warm water and use a cold compress to reduce swelling. Over-the-counter pain relief may help until we see you.
- Broken, chipped, or cracked tooth – Rinse gently with warm water, apply a cold compress, and if possible, bring any broken pieces in milk or saliva.
- Knocked-out tooth: Keep the tooth moist. If you can, place it back in the socket, or store it in milk until you reach our office.
- Bitten lip or tongue – Rinse with clean water and use a cold compress. If bleeding is severe or doesn’t stop, call 911.
